A statement from The ALS Therapy Development Institute:
NEK1, the most recent gene to be identified as having an association to ALS adds useful information to what we know about ALS genetics. It is important to recognize the value of this finding, but also important to recognize the significant amount of additional work needed to find a treatment that targets it.
The Precision Medicine Program at the ALS Therapy Development Institute is on track to get us there, but we need dollars to get there faster. Unlike other organizations, we spent all of our Ice Bucket Challenge dollars immediately because we are driven by an urgent need to end ALS.
Today, we are asking that you please choose to fund our Precision Medicine Program, so that we can significantly expedite progress. It is the greatest hope we have at advancing treatments into clinical trial. Thank you.
